Mount Carmel Capital

A lasting commitment to the business you’ve built.

Mount Carmel Capital is an entrepreneur-led acquisition firm seeking an established B2B services business to acquire, operate and grow for the long term. Our search focuses on the Ottawa region and remotely operated businesses across Canada and the United States.

Established businesses. Enduring relationships. Long-term ownership.

Our focus

Strong businesses. A thoughtful next chapter.

We are drawn to established businesses with lasting customer relationships, capable teams and opportunities for continued growth. Our search has a particular emphasis on B2B services, including the areas below, but we welcome compelling opportunities across other service industries.

Areas of particular interest

  1. Professional and outsourced services

Businesses providing specialist expertise and ongoing support, including financial, administrative, compliance, consulting and other outsourced services.

  2. Managed technology services

Businesses helping clients operate, maintain and improve their technology, including managed IT, cybersecurity, enterprise systems and ongoing technical support.

  3. Specialized business services

Businesses delivering essential services to other organizations, including inspection, training, compliance, healthcare support and other niche business services.

These examples reflect our current interests, not the limits of our search. We welcome introductions to strong businesses in other service sectors.

About

Meet Jeff Finnegan

Founder and Principal, Mount Carmel Capital

Jeff is a Canadian lawyer and entrepreneur with a background in real estate law, commercial real estate asset management and transaction advisory. He has also built and operated businesses in e-commerce and digital marketing, gaining practical experience in customer acquisition, business systems and automation.

He founded Mount Carmel Capital to bring that experience to the long-term ownership of an established business. His intention is to take an active leadership role, work alongside the existing team, and build on the relationships and capabilities that have made the company successful.

Our approach

Personal involvement. A long-term perspective.

  • Direct conversations

You will speak directly with Jeff, the person leading the acquisition and intending to lead the business.

  • Respect for what works

Strong teams, client trust and a company’s reputation take years to build. Understanding and preserving those strengths comes first.

  • A transition shaped together

Every owner has different priorities. We aim to agree on a practical transition that supports continuity and reflects the needs of the business.

  • Clear communication

We approach discussions discreetly and communicate openly about fit, next steps and outstanding questions.

From introduction to transition

  1. Get acquainted

Discuss the business, your priorities and whether there is a potential fit.

  2. Understand the opportunity

Agree on confidentiality arrangements and review the information needed to assess the business.

  3. Agree on a path

Discuss valuation, structure and transition, then document proposed terms if both sides wish to proceed.

  4. Complete diligence and plan the handover

Work through diligence, financing and definitive agreements while preparing for a thoughtful transition.

Brokers and advisors

Introductions are welcome.

We welcome opportunities from business brokers, M&A advisors, accountants and other trusted intermediaries.

A brief overview of the business, its location, revenue model and earnings is a useful starting point. Confidential materials can follow under an agreed NDA.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Who would lead the business after an acquisition?

Jeff intends to take an active leadership role and work with the existing team. The operating and transition plan would be developed around the needs of the business.

Can I remain involved after the sale?

Yes, that can be part of the discussion. The right arrangement depends on your goals, the team’s capabilities and what the business needs for a successful transition.

What if my business does not meet every criterion?

Our criteria describe the businesses we are most interested in, rather than rigid requirements. We consider opportunities outside our highlighted sectors and welcome an introduction when a business has strong fundamentals and a potential fit with our ownership approach.

How are confidential materials handled?

We can begin with a high-level introduction and agree on an NDA before exchanging sensitive business information.
